Cattle Identification

The Subcommittee on Cattle Disease Traceability serves under the Committee on Cattle and Bison.  It is an evolution of the previous Committte on Livestock Identification, with this change made in 2018, followed by a name change from Cattle Identification in 2021.

The purpose of the Subcommittee on Cattle Identification is to centralize, and evaluate methods of cattle identification and to make recommendations to USAHA for the adoption or rejection of individual identification systems.

The goal of the committee is to meet the expanding needs in cattle identification, both national and international, and be prepared to reach conclusions that are not only reasonable to the livestock industry, but fulfill the purposes for which each livestock identification system is designed.
