USAHA News United States Animal Health Association Contact: Larry Mark - (703) 451-3954 - ldmark@erols.com For immediate release: UM&R APPROVED FOR TB ERADICATION IN CAPTIVE CERVIDS HERSHEY, Pa., Nov. 8, 2005 - The Tuberculosis Committee of the U.S. Animal Health Association (USAHA) approved a "Uniform Methods and Rules" for eradication of TB in captive cervids at its meeting here this week. This document sets standards for eliminating the disease in captive deer, elk and other cervid herds. The committee also went on record as requiring a negative TB test on dairy cattle that are moved interstate. Finally, the committee called for instituting provisions that would allow feeder cattle from specific states in Mexico to enter the United States only if they go directly to an "approved feedlot." ###
