The 2004 strategic plan, developed by the committee, identifies six major strategies as crucial elements in the eradication of this disease. They are: eradication; wildlife management; laboratory and diagnostic support; TB surveillance; information and education outreach; and risk mitigation. The committee also called on USDA to request the funding necessary to carry out the plan. It also urged livestock industry groups as well as state animal health and wildlife agencies to support USDA’s request for funds so the plan can be implemented. ###
